Everything You Need to Know
There are primarily two types of home chargers: Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 chargers use a standard household outlet, while Level 2 chargers require a higher voltage and offer faster charging times. Based on your vehicle and charging habits, we can help you choose the most suitable option.
Charging time varies depending on the charger type and the vehicle’s battery capacity. Level 1 chargers typically take longer, while Level 2 chargers can significantly reduce charging time, often taking just a few hours for a full charge.
Most homes can support Level 2 charging, but it may require an upgrade to your electrical panel. Our initial inspection will determine what modifications, if any, are necessary to safely install your charger.
Yes, it is safe. EV chargers and plugs are designed to withstand weather conditions, including rain, ensuring safe charging outdoors.
EV charging stations require minimal maintenance, which includes regular inspections for any physical damage, ensuring the charging cable is stored properly, and keeping the charging port clean.
Yes, frequently using Superchargers can impact the battery life of your Tesla. The intense power from Level 3 chargers causes greater heating, which over time can reduce the battery’s maximum charge capacity. To mitigate this, Tesla restricts the number of times a vehicle can utilize DC fast charging, ensuring the long-term health of the battery. For daily charging needs, Level 2 home chargers provide a more suitable and battery-friendly option, offering sufficient charging for most drivers without the harsh impacts of rapid charging.
You do not necessarily need to install a Tesla Wall Connector for home charging. If you have a standard household (120 V) outlet at your parking spot, you can use the Mobile Connector with the included NEMA 5-15 adapter for a slower charge rate of 2-3 miles per hour. For faster charging, if you have an existing 240 V (dryer-type) outlet, you can use the Mobile Connector with an appropriate adapter to achieve up to 30 miles per hour of charge. However, the Wall Connector is recommended for the fastest home charging experience and offers additional functionalities, such as compatibility with non-Tesla electric vehicles, scheduling, and charging statistics.
